But some history and how we are serving our community today..
It all started by offering to help some ol’ Cherry Farmers with the paperwork. “Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) audits are voluntary audits that verify that fruits and vegetables are produced, packed, handled, and stored to minimize risks of microbial food safety hazards. GAP audits verify adherence to the recommendations made in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Guide to Minimize Microbial Food Safety Hazards for Fresh Fruits and Vegetables (pdf) and industry recognized food safety practices. In 2021, USDA performed GAP audits in 50 states, Puerto Rico, and Canada, covering over 90 commodities.” Visit the USDA website here.
This fed well into Desirae’s knowledge of pesticides with her now 12 years in Agronomy Sales. We pride ourselves in being able to help growers bridge the gaps. Ranging from a problem in the orchard to ensuring that they are following the guidelines of the USDA GAP to ensure optimal produce up to Orchard Management. All other orchard services have since followed.
It is hard to find an all in one when your looking at your orchard. Some of these tasks range from sourcing fruit and ornamental trees/shrubs to planting and irrigation. Then comes the referrals to contractors in the business that include land moving & building, fencing, planting on a large scale, pruning, spraying, fertilizing and harvesting. Desirae writes custom spray programs and can work with your sprayer to fine tune your orchard. Desirae also offers specialized consultation type training for the new orchard owner or the back yard grower that is looking to expand their garden.
Now, in 2024, we now also sell chemicals, however it is not available online. We are also now able to offer some commercial spray application on the East Shore, and is based out of the Woods Bay area.
We enjoy working one on one with to help producers to reach their crop production goals.
There are many ways to grow good fruit successfully and we are here to help you grow yours, your way. Contact us
